Welcome
Letter from our chair
Dear applicant,
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, it is my great pleasure to invite you to apply for the position of Chief Executive Officer of Bite Back.
We are at a hugely exciting and important moment in our journey. In just five years, Bite Back has grown from a bold idea into a powerful youth-led movement that is reshaping the conversation around children’s health, food justice and industry accountability in the UK.
But the urgency of our mission has never been greater. The current food system is failing young people—particularly those from marginalised communities. One in three children leaves primary school at risk of diet-related ill health. This is an injustice we refuse to accept.
Bite Back exists to change this. We equip and empower young activists to expose a rigged food system and demand something better. Through their voices, we challenge government policy, corporate practice, and public attitudes—driving a groundswell of change with youth leadership at its core.
We are now looking for a new CEO to take us into our next chapter: one of scale, deeper influence, and even greater impact. This is a unique opportunity to lead an ambitious, creative, and mission-driven team. You’ll be building on strong foundations—brilliant youth activists, a high-performing staff team, strong financial health, and a growing national profile.
We’re looking for someone who is strategic and entrepreneurial, passionate about youth-led change, and bold in ambition. Someone who understands what it means to lead - and empower young people to lead a movement—not just an organisation. Someone who can champion our values, work in partnership with young people, and help us navigate a fast-changing external landscape with clarity and purpose.
Young people are at the forefront of our organisation and a key role of the CEO will be to support and empower our activists to make their voice heard. You’ll drive strategic focus, build powerful partnerships, secure new funding, and guide the team through a pivotal period of growth—all while holding space for intergenerational leadership and modelling inclusive, values-led decision-making.
If you’re ready to be part of a movement that’s transforming the food system—and the lives of millions of young people—we’d love to hear from you.
Warmest regards,
Baroness Anne Longfield
